Collatz Conjecture

Take any positive integer. If even, divide by 2. If odd, multiply by 3 and add 1. Repeat. The conjecture: you always eventually reach 1. Verified for all starting values up to 2⁶⁸, yet no proof is known. Erdős said of it: "Mathematics is not yet ready for such problems."
